When it comes to achieving success, it’s important to remember that failure is part of the journey. No successful person has an unblemished track record of success. We all have experienced setbacks and losses along the way. Even the most successful athletes, entrepreneurs, and artists have experienced more losses than wins.
Personally, I have had four businesses over 17 years. I have been a competitive adult athlete for 13 years, and a pro athlete three. I started dating over 30 years ago!
Here’s a look at my personal track record:
- More failed relationships than successful ones. But the one that lasted has been the one that has mattered most.
- More athletic competitions lost than won
- More business mistakes than triumphs
- More setbacks than hand ups.
The difference between successful people and those who don’t reach their goals is that successful people don’t let their fear of failure stop them.
The fear of failure can be a powerful motivator. Instead of letting it paralyze you, turn it into something positive. Use it to fuel your ambition and drive your determination to succeed.
At the end of the day, success is about getting out there and doing the work. You won’t get anywhere sitting in the bleachers. You have to be willing to get out there on the playing field, take the hits, and get back up again!
“Champions are made on the playing field, not in the stands.”
Don’t let fear of failure stop you from achieving your goals. Embrace it as part of the journey and use it to motivate yourself. Be willing to take risks and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. With hard work and determination, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

Feel the fear and do it regardless
Absolutely! Taking risks and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is how we learn and grow. It’s important to acknowledge and respect your fear, but don’t let it stop you from reaching your goals.
